Musical activities help children and young people learn about instruments and rhythm. They might learn to read, write and compose music or learn about famous composers.
Drama helps to develop confidence, physical awareness and communication skills, as well as being fun! Young people can act, direct, dance and sing for an applause ready audience. They might also make props or set designs, write plays, create a song and dance routine or take part in a pantomimes.
Dancing is great exercise and fun for all ages. It's also a simple way to introduce young people to different styles of music and can help with balance and co-ordination.
Imprortant note about choosing an activity provider
When choosing an activity provider, parents are reminded to check that the facility has a Child protection/safeguarding policy and to ensure they have seen this. Parents should also ask the Principal or person in charge, questions about their child’s safety at the activity, such as how their child will be supervised and how staff are recruited.
For further details, please see the Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership dance and drama school safeguarding policy guidelines.
