Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) - BCP Council
Local Safeguarding is a multi-agency service, dedicated to safeguarding children across the whole of Dorset.
Also known as the MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub), Dorset Safeguarding brings agencies together in one place and includes staff from Dorset and BCP Council's children's social care services alongside Dorset HealthCare and Dorset Police.
Based in a shared space in Poole, the Dorset Safeguarding Team seeks to enhance the safeguarding of children by improving information sharing and decision making practices, by working together collaboratively for a more effective service for the children and young people of the county.
While there continues to be individual accountability of each agency, the co-located partners now function with agreed protocols for information sharing and procedures, and there is also an agreed workflow model for consistency of processes and prioritisation of cases.
- Putting children at the forefront of the safeguarding process
- Working collaboratively, encouraging change and improvement
- Adopting an ethos of 'do it once and do it right'
- Eradicating duplication
- Adopting a truly joint working approach
