School holidays can be difficult for many families with increased costs for food and childcare, particularly this year with the impact of COVID-19. We all want our children to return to school physically and mentally ready for the term ahead and it is important for children and young people to engage in activities, keep healthy and stay connected.
BCP Council has been awarded funding by the Department for Education (DfE) to support the provision of free holiday activity places for children and young people aged 5 to 16 receiving benefits-based free school meals. The name of the programme is the holiday activities and food programme (HAF). A range of fantastic HAF activities ran over the Easter and summer holiday and we're currently planning our Christmas hoiliday programme. We will keep this page updated with details of Christmas holiday activities as they are confirmed.
Parents, carers, children and young people - click on the boxes below to find out more about the programme and how to take part.
Providers and educators - we are keen to build our base of providers who can help deliver this exciting programme. We want to hear from you if you provide:
- holiday activities in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole and would like funding to support free places for children on free school meals
- food which meets the school food standards
- nutritional education to children and families
