School holidays can be difficult for many families with increased costs for food and childcare, particularly this year with the impact of COVID-19 on family resources. We all want our children to return to school physically and mentally ready for the term ahead and it is important for children and young people to engage in activities, keep healthy and stay connected.
In February 2021 BCP Council was awarded funding by the Department for Education (DfE) to support the provision of free holiday activity places for children and young people aged 5 to 16 receiving benefits-based free school meals. The name of the programme is the holiday activities and food programme (HAF). A succesful pilot programme ran over the Easter 2021 holiday and our aim is to provide even more activities in the summer and Christmas holidays.

Providers and educators - we are looking to build our base of providers who can help deliver this exciting opportunity. We want to hear from you if you provide:
- holiday activities in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area and would like funding to support free places for children on free school meals
- food which meets the school food standards
- nutritional education to children and families
