We can provide books and other items to people who are unable to visit the library themselves, and to people who live in sheltered housing and care homes.
If you live in your own home
If you cannot get to a library because of age or disability or because you are caring for someone, volunteers from the Royal Voluntary Service can bring books and information to you at home at regular intervals.
We have a good selection of fiction, information books on popular subjects and resources for people with dementia and their carers. Large print and audio books are available and we can provide information on all sorts of subjects - just ask your volunteer.
This is a free service and you can request any books or information free of charge too.
If you live in sheltered housing or a care home
If you live in sheltered housing or a care home we can bring books and information to you regularly.
We can arrange to leave a collection of books in a communal area for all residents to use. We have a good selection of fiction as well as information books on popular subjects, and resources for people with dementia and their carers. Large print and audio books are available and we can provide information on all sorts of subjects. Your collection will be changed every 4 weeks.
If you find it difficult to access the communal area, a volunteer can deliver your books straight to your flat or room. Contact the Royal Voluntary Service Home Library Manager email dorsetwiltshirehub@royalvoluntaryservice.org.ukor telephone 01305 236666.
