One of the biggest theatrical projects in the South, Brownsea Open Air Theatre (BOAT) is an open-air Shakespearean theatre company based in Poole, Dorset. Since 1964, the company has staged large-scale productions, originally performing on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour to celebrate Shakespeare's 400th birthday.

In 2025, BOAT moved to the mainland and now stages its annual Shakespeare production in the beautiful grounds of Canford School. The auditorium offers a similar experience to that enjoyed on Brownsea Island, with the added benefits of free parking, including accessible parking, and a large picnic area with toilet facilities. Canford School also provides food and refreshments before performances and during the interval.
