An Easter holiday technical theatre course for 11-14 year olds. Would you like to know more about the backstage and technical side of theatre? Are you aged between 11-14? The latest intake for Lighthouse’s highly-regarded Young Technicians courses is aimed at 11-14 year olds who might be considering careers in technical theatre. Supported by funding from The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, the intensive three-day course provides a real-world introduction to sound, lighting and stage management in a busy multi-venue arts centre. “There is no right way to start a career in technical theatre,” says Young Technicians course leader James Smith. “For some the answer is university, for others it could be an apprenticeship, or a job at their local theatre where they can build their skills. I’ve been in this industry since the age of 14 and this course is exactly what I wish had been available when I was starting out. Ultimately, all roads will end in the same place where the aim should be to produce good quality collaborative entertainment.” Applicants must be available from 10am – 12pm on Mon 30 March, Tue 31 March and Wed 1 April 2026.
