SHEOS: Free Sexual Health and Relationships Support for Young People

SHEOS: Free Sexual Health and Relationships Support for Young People logo

We provide impartial, non-judgemental one-to-one support for young people living in Dorset aged 13 to 19 (up to 25 for those with a learning disability or SEND), helping them develop their understanding of relationships and sexual health and empowering them to make informed choices about their wellbeing.

Referrals to SHEOS can be made by school staff, social workers, GPs, parents/carers, healthcare professionals, and other professionals working with young people. Young people aged 13 and over can also self-refer.

Our Sexual Health Advisors provide brief, targeted interventions to support young people with:

  • Accessing contraception and sexually transmitted infection (STI) services.
  • Understanding consent, healthy relationships, and personal boundaries.
  • Exploring rights, responsibilities, and expectations within relationships.
  • Reducing risks associated with sexual relationships, including unintended pregnancy, STIs, coercion, and controlling behaviours.
  • Increasing awareness of the potential risks and impact of pornography.

A direct referral can be made, with the young person’s consent through the following link: Sexual Health Education & Outreach Service – Referral Form :: Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust or if you wish to discuss a referral, contact dhc.sexualhealth.promotion@nhs.net
