SWRAC provides specialist post-16 education for young people aged 16–25 with special educational needs and disabilities, primarily those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
The centre’s in Boscombe, Dorchester and Winton offers a small, personalised learning environment designed to support independence, employability, and preparation for adulthood.

Curriculum Pathways:

• Prepare for Life – developing independent living skills, including travel training, budgeting, ASDAN courses, and daily living routines.
• Prepare for Work – building employability skills through work experience, interview preparation, ASDAN vocational courses, and workplace readiness activities.
• Supported Internships – providing work-based learning opportunities through employer placements and job coach support. 
• META Programme – offering a pre-engagement pathway with gradual transition into learning for students who have struggled with attendance and education. 
• Transitional Mentoring – providing pre-start support to build confidence and reduce anxiety ahead of enrolment.

All our courses offer Maths and English qualifications, along with customer service level 1 and NOCN level 1 courses.

SWRAC also offer a Thrive programme which aims to help young adults with learning difficulties, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, prepare for independence through life-skills, learning and challenges. This can be funded via social care or the EHCP.

• A multidisciplinary team including specialist tutors, SENCO’s, learning support assistants, job coaches, work experience coordinators and level 7 careers advisers.
