We want to improve health and wellbeing in our area by giving everyone the opportunity to eat nutritious, locally grown food. We’re working with others to build an abundant, circular food system. We’re also building a culture of storing, reusing and redistributing food surplus.
Food security is a significant issue in the Boscombe community. Defined by the World Health Organisation as when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food, food security is vital to maintaining a healthy, active life. However, economic factors mean that in our community, it’s a very real problem. We’re passionate about empowering people to combat that problem. We believe that by growing and sharing food, educating others to do the same and redistributing food surplus, we can make a huge difference.
Feed Our Community is about getting food to the right places. The project distributes surplus food and freshly grown fruit and veg to the people who need it most. Pick-ups are carried out from supermarkets, cafes and other businesses for surplus food. In addition, Grounded contributes fresh fruit and veg from our own garden and home growing spaces.
