EMA is a specialist college with two campuses in Dorset, based at The Walled Garden, Moreton (near Dorchester) and in Gillingham in North Dorset. We offer a range of diverse study programmes with preparation for adulthood, and support for employment themes, along with supported internships.
Our Moreton campus is set within The Walled Garden Moreton, a five-acre formal garden, and is designed to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their potential through a combination of education and hands-on learning experiences in state of the art training settings, and real working environments such as The Dovecote Café, formal gardens, and alongside our animals (such as goats, guinea pigs, and reptiles). The site is open to the public as a visitor attraction and students learn both independence and employability skills in their chosen areas.
Our Gillingham campus does not have areas open to the public, and is an environment designed to meet the needs of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), anxiety disorders, and other special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The campus has a focus on preparation for adulthood, and sensory-led learning, with dedicated classrooms, multi-use games area, an independent living suite, along with hospitality training space providing students with an immersive learning experience as they develop their skills for pop-up cafés and community events.
Our approach is centered around practical learning and real-world experiences. We help our students unlock opportunities and promote independence. Whether it’s through our tailored curriculum, hands-on vocational training, or nurturing environment, every individual is supported to shine in their own way.
