The annual special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) survey is an opportunity to hear about experiences of SEND support and EHCPs, whether in school / college, healthcare or in the community. We use the views from parents, carers, children and young people in the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area to help us improve and develop SEND services across education, health and care.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our SEND Annual Survey. The survey is now closed, and we are currently looking through and analysing all the responses.
This year, we heard from 102 parents and carers and 97 children and young people.
While we finalise the full results, we would like to share what will happen next:
January 2026: Services will review the feedback and comments shared by families.
February 2026: A BCP Action Plan will be created to address the issues raised in the survey. This Action Plan will be published on the Local OfferLocal OfferA local authority website resource that holds information on services and provision for children and young people with SEN and disabilities across education, health and social care and leisure. website so everyone can see what actions are being taken.

The survey was created in partnership with parents, carers and partners from other organisations. Thank you to Parent Carers Together, Parent Carer Foundation and NHS Dorset.
The SEND values of culture and co-production were developed with families and young people, and set out how we should behave and work.
